Dumps is an app that allows users to create collaborative photo dumps.
For my internship with the Dumps team, we focused on developing new app features to increase user engagement and retention.
A collection of features designed to ensure users return to the app day after day.
Delivery of a music feature with an 80% D1 user retention.
The first idea I workshopped with the design team was a way to include music into the app. People today love sharing their music tastes (think Spotify Wrapped). So, we wanted to bring that excitement of sharing a new song with friends into the app. To convey my ideas with the team, I created multiple designs and prototypes.
The feature was iterated on for several weeks (as the app's UI changed frequently). At the conclusion of my time with Dumps, I put together a handoff document that was delivered to the design team.
After my internship, Dumps Music was built and was determined a success. Users who interact with the music feature on their first day have an 80% chance to return to the app the next day.
In order to increase user retention and encourage users to return to the app more frequently, I designed the "Dumpster" feature. This allowed users to view their weekly app stats in comparison to other users.
In order to increase share-ability, I designed each frame to be screenshot-able to encourage user to brag about their results on other social media. I also created a summary tile that users could text to their friends or post on their Instagram story.
The feature was unfortunately not built, but was a ton of fun to explore.
